WARNING:
To reduce the risk of accidental deployment, do not use any memory saver devices. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death.
NOTE:
The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the restraints control module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.
NOTE:
Repair is made by installing a new part only. If the new part does not correct the condition, install the original part and carry out the diagnostic procedure again.
NOTE:
The supplemental restraint system (SRS) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
NOTE:
The passenger air bag deactivation indicator is part of the hazard switch/traction control switch assembly.
- Depower the SRS. For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering .
- Remove the console shifter bezel.
- Remove the center finish console panel.
- Remove the 2 retainers and position aside the power point/storage bin.
- Pull out and release the instrument panel (I/P) center finish panel.
- Disconnect the passenger air bag deactivation indicator electrical connector.
- Release the 4 tabs (2 upper and 2 lower) on the passenger air bag deactivation indicator and remove it from the I/P center finish panel.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Repower the SRS. For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering .
