Seat - Front: Removal

WARNING: Never probe the electrical connectors on air bag, safety canopy or side air curtain modules. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental deployment of these modules, which increases the risk of serious personal injury or death.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of accidental deployment, do not use any memory saver devices. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death.
NOTE: The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the restraints control module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.
NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
NOTE: The high speed controller area network (HS-CAN) circuits that pass through the passenger seat 12 pin electrical connector are part of the main HS-CAN LOOP. If the front passenger seat-to-floor 12 pin electrical connector is disconnected, a NO START condition will result.
NOTE: The medium speed controller area network (MS-CAN) circuits that pass through the driver and passenger seat harnesses are part of the main MS-CAN LOOP. If the driver seat-to-floor 57 pin electrical connector is disconnected when equipped with memory seats, various MS-CAN modules will not be able to communicate. If the front passenger seat-to-floor 30 pin electrical connector is disconnected when equipped with climate control seats, various MS-CAN modules will not be able to communicate.
    NOTE: If servicing a power seat track, if possible, raise the front and rear to its highest point.
  1. Position the seat to access all the seat track-to-floor bolts and the safety belt retractor belt anchor nut.
  2. Depower the SRS. For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering in the General Procedures portion of SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
  3. Carefully pull up and out to remove the safety belt retractor belt anchor nut cover from the cushion side shield for access to the safety belt retractor belt anchor nut.
  4. Remove the safety belt anchor nut and separate the safety belt anchor from the seat.
  5. Pull forward and remove the 2 seat track-to-floor front bolt covers.
  6. Remove the 2 seat track-to-floor rear bolt covers in the following sequence.
    1. Push the seat track-to-floor rear bolt cover forward.
    2. Lift to disengage the tab at the front of the seat track-to-floor rear bolt cover.
    3. Slide back and remove the seat track-to-floor rear bolt cover.
      • Repeat for the other side.
  7. Remove the 4 seat track-to-floor bolts.
  8. Tip the seat back and disconnect the seat electrical connectors.
    9. WARNING: Use care when handling the front passenger seat and track assembly. Dropping the assembly, placing excessive weight on or sitting on a front passenger seat that is not secured in the vehicle may result in damaged seat components. Failure to follow these instructions may result in incorrect operation of the occupant classification sensor (OCS) system and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
    CAUTION: Use care when handling the driver seat and track assembly. Dropping the assembly or sitting on a seat not secured in the vehicle may result in damaged components.
  9. Remove the seat from the vehicle.
