Pinpoint Test Ah: DTC B103C - Thermoelectric Driver Open Load

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lincoln MKX and 2007 Ford Edge. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the restraints control module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.
NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
  1. AH1 CHECK THE CCSM FOR RESISTANCE
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Depower the SRS. Refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering in the General Procedures portion of SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
    • Disconnect: Driver seat side air bag C328

    • Disconnect: Passenger seat side air bag C327
    • Disconnect: Passenger seat safety belt buckle pretensioner C3202
    • Disconnect: CCSM C3036a
    • Measure the resistance between CCSM C3036a pin G and pin H, component side and between CCSM C3036a pin J and pin K, component side.
    • Are the resistances less than 10 ohms?
    1. YES  : CONNECT CCSM C3036a. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. If DTC B103C is still present on demand, go to  AH3.
    2. NO  : Go to  AH2.
  2. AH2 CHECK THE TED CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
    • Disconnect: Cushion TED C3327
    • Disconnect: Backrest TED C3322
    • Measure the resistance of the following circuits.
      CCSM Connector-Pin Circuit TED Connector-Pin
      C3036a-G CHS02 (YE/BU) C3327-1
      C3036a-H RHS02 (BU/OG) C3327-3
      C3036a-J CHS01 (GY/VT) C3322-1
      C3036a-K RHS01 (WH/VT) C3322-3
    • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
    1. YES  : Go to  AH3.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the affected circuit. REPEAT the self-test. CLEAR the DTCs.

      DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.

CONNECT passenger safety belt buckle pretensioner C3202. CONNECT passenger seat side air bag module C327.

CONNECT driver safety belt buckle pretensioner C3201. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C328.

REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

  3. AH3 CHECK THE TED CIRCUITS FOR SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    • Disconnect: CCSM C3036a
    • WARNING: Make sure no one is in the vehicle and there is nothing blocking or placed in front of any air bag module when the battery is connected. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury in the event of an accidental deployment.
    • Connect the battery ground cable.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the following CCSM C3036a pins, harness side and ground.
      Connector-Pin Circuit
      C3036a-G CHS02 (YE/BU)
      C3036a-H RHS02 (BU/OG)
      C3036a-J CHS01 (GY/VT)
      C3036a-K RHS01 (WH/VT)
    • Is voltage present on any circuit?
    1. YES  : REPAIR the affected circuit. REPEAT the self-test. CLEAR the DTCs.

      DISCONNECT the battery ground cable.

CONNECT passenger safety belt buckle pretensioner C3202. CONNECT passenger seat side air bag module C327.

CONNECT driver safety belt buckle pretensioner C3201. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C328.

REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

    2. NO  : Go to  AH4.
  4. AH4 CHECK RESISTANCE OF THE TEDS
