Pinpoint Test D: No Power In Start

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lincoln MKX and 2007 Ford Edge. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.
NOTE: Verify that battery voltage is 10 volts or greater.
  1. D1 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH 
    1. YES  : Go to  D2.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch . TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. D2 CHECK CIRCUIT CDC35 (BU/WH) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280b

    • Measure the resistance between ignition switch C250-7, circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), harness side and SJB C2280b-32, circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), harness side.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D3.
    2. NO  : REPAIR circuit CDC35 (BU/WH). TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. D3 CHECK THE SJB START CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280e
    • Measure the resistance between SJB C2280b pin-32, component side and SJB C2280e pin-8, component side.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D4.
    2. NO  : Go to  D5.
  4. D4 CHECK CIRCUIT CDC35 (BU/WH) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: Starter Relay

    • Measure the resistance between SJB C2280e-8, circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), harness side and starter relay cavity 85, harness side.
    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 
    1. YES  : REPAIR circuit CDC35 (BU/WH). TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : REFER to STARTING SYSTEM to diagnose the starting system.
  5. D5 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION 
    • Check SJB connector C2280b and C2280e for:
      • corrosion.
      • pushed-out pins.
      • spread terminal.
    • Connect: SJB C2280b
    • Connect: SJB C2280e
    • Make sure the connectors are seated correctly, then operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new SJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
