Pinpoint Test Ai: DTC U2472 - Unexpected Ignition State

CAUTION:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- AI1 CHECK CIRCUIT CBP29 (WH/VT) FOR VOLTAGE WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH IN THE OFF POSITION
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Instrument Cluster C220
- Measure the voltage between the instrument cluster C220-20, circuit CBP29 (WH/VT), harness side and ground with the ignition switch in the OFF position.
- Is any voltage present?

- AI2 CHECK CIRCUIT CBP29 (WH/VT) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250
- Measure the voltage between the instrument cluster C220-20, circuit CBP29 (WH/VT), harness side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?

- YES : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- NO : REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article to diagnose the ignition switch.
- AI3 CHECK CIRCUIT CBP29 (WH/VT) FOR VOLTAGE WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH IN THE ACC POSITION
- Key in ACCESSORY position.
- Measure the voltage between the instrument cluster C220-20, circuit CBP29 (WH/VT), harness side and ground with the ignition switch in the ACC position.
- Is any voltage present?

- YES : REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article to diagnose the ignition switch.
- NO : Go to AI4.
- AI4 CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER VOLTAGE INPUT WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH IN THE ON POSITION
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the instrument cluster C220-20, circuit CBP29 (WH/VT), harness side and ground with the ignition switch in the ON position.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

- YES : REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article to diagnose the ignition switch.
- NO : VERIFY the SJB fuse 29 (5A) is OK. If OK, go to AI5.
- AI5 CHECK THE SJB INPUT PIDs FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: SJB PIDs
- Monitor the SJB PIDs IGN_A_ECU, IGN_O_ECU, IGN_R_ECU, and IGN_S_ECU while cycling the ignition switch from ACC to OFF, RUN and START.
- Do the SJB PIDs match the ignition switch position?
- YES : Go to AI6.
- NO : REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article to diagnose the ignition switch outputs to the SJB.
- AI6 RECHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DTCs
- Repeat the instrument cluster self-test.
- Clear all DTCs.
- Is DTC U2472 still present?
- AI7 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
- Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify that the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- AI8 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the instrument cluster connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
