Pinpoint Test AF: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B2844 Ignition Fault

CAUTION:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- AF1 CHECK CIRCUIT CBP29 (WH/VT) FOR VOLTAGE WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH IN THE ACC POSITION
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Instrument Cluster C220
- Key in ACCESSORY position.
- Measure the voltage between the instrument cluster C220-20, circuit CBP29 (WH/VT), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts with the ignition switch in the ACC position?

- YES : REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- NO : Go to AF2.
- AF2 CHECK CIRCUIT CBP29 (WH/VT) FOR VOLTAGE WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH IN THE RUN OR START POSITION
- Key in START position.
- Measure the voltage between the instrument cluster C220-20, circuit CBP29 (WH/VT), harness side and ground.
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the voltage between the instrument cluster C220-20, circuit CBP29 (WH/VT), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts with the ignition switch in the RUN and the START position, and does the voltage drop to 0 volts when the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position?

- YES : Go to AF3.
- NO : REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- AF3 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the instrument cluster connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
