Pinpoint Test Ac: The Instrument Cluster Is Inoperative

CAUTION:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- AC1 CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER VOLTAGE SUPPLY
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Instrument Cluster C220
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the instrument cluster C220-19, circuit SBP26 (YE/RD), harness side and ground; and between the instrument cluster C220-20, circuit CBP29 (WH/VT), harness side and ground.
- Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?

- YES : Go to AC2.
- NO : VERIFY the SJB fuses 26 (10A) and 29 (5A) are OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- AC2 CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GROUND CIRCUITS
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster C220-9, circuit GD115 (BK/GY), harness side and ground; and between the instrument cluster C220-10, circuit GD115 (BK/GY), harness side and ground.
- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?

- YES : Go to AC3.
- NO : REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
- AC3 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the instrument cluster connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
