Pinpoint Test H: The Wash And Wipe Function Is Inoperative - Rear Window

  1. H1 CHECK THE WASHER PUMP 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Operate the rear window washer.
    • Does the washer pump operate? 
    1. YES  : Go to  H2.
    2. NO  : Go to Pinpoint Test I .
  2. H2 CHECK THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Multi-function Switch C202
    • Carry out the multi-function switch component test.
    • Did the multi-function switch pass the component test? 
    1. YES  : Go to  H3.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new multi-function switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES .
  3. H3 CHECK FOR CORRECT WIPER MOTOR OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all wiper motor connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion.
      • pushed-out pins.
    • Connect all wiper motor connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. YES  : Go to  H4.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. H4 CHECK THE REAR WINDOW WIPER MOTOR 
    • Carry out the rear window wiper motor component test as outlined.
    • Did the rear window wiper motor pass the component test? 
    1. YES  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by binding or incorrect pivot arm adjustment. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new rear window wiper motor. REFER to Wiper Motor - Rear Window .
