Rear Disc Brake

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lincoln MKX and 2007 Ford Edge. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The rear disc brake system consists of the following components:

Brake Caliper -   The brake caliper is mounted to a brake caliper anchor plate, which is bolted to the brake caliper support plate. The support plate is attached to the trailing arm.

Brake Caliper Anchor Plate -   The brake caliper anchor plate uses locating guide pins and bolts to allow the brake caliper to move as the brake pads wear.

Brake Disc -   The brake disc is a ventilated full-cast design.

Brake Disc Shield -   The brake disc shield is mounted to the brake caliper support bracket and protects the wheel bearing and the inner surface of the brake disc from foreign material.

Brake Pads -   The brake pads are of a non-asbestos composition and are housed in the brake caliper.
