WARNING CHIMES - SYMPTOM CHART

Condition	Possible Sources	Action
All the chimes are inoperative	IC	INSTALL a new IC . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
The chime sounds when the driver door is ajar (no key in ignition and headlamps off)	Wiring, terminals or connectors Key-in-ignition switch (part of the ignition switch) SJB	Go To PINPOINT TEST AE .
The key-in-ignition warning chime is inoperative	Wiring, terminals or connectors Key-in-ignition switch (part of the ignition switch) SJB IC	Go To PINPOINT TEST AF .
The headlamps on warning chime is inoperative	Door ajar indication SJB IC	Go To PINPOINT TEST AG .
The turn/hazard tick-tock chime is inoperative	RH/LH turn indicator IC	VERIFY that the RH/LH turn indicators operate correctly. If the RH/LH turn indicators do not operate correctly, Go To PINPOINT TEST S . If the RH/LH turn indicators operate correctly, INSTALL a new IC . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
The turn signal on warning chime is inoperative	Odometer operation IC	Go To PINPOINT TEST AH .
The door ajar warning chime is inoperative	Door ajar warning indication concern	OBSERVE the door ajar warning indicator. If the door ajar warning indicator does not operate correctly, Go To PINPOINT TEST R . TEST the system for normal operation. If the door ajar warning indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new IC . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
The safety belt warning chime does not operate correctly	Safety belt warning indication concern IC	Go To PINPOINT TEST AI .
The Belt-Minder® feature does not operate correctly	Belt-Minder® deactivated Safety belt warning indication concern Speedometer concern IC	Go To PINPOINT TEST AI .
The parking brake warning chime is inoperative	Brake warning indication concern Speedometer concern IC	Go To PINPOINT TEST AJ .
The air bag secondary warning chime is inoperative/has activated	IC	RETRIEVE the recorded IC DTCs from the self-test. If the IC DTC B1869 or B1870 is not present, the system is operating correctly. The air bag secondary warning chime sounds only when a fault in the air bag warning indicator is present and DTC B1869 or B1870 is recorded. If the IC DTC B1869 or B1870 is present, INSTALL a new IC . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
The service Roll Stability Control (RSC®) warning chime is inoperative	Traction assist indication IC	VERIFY that the SERVICE RSC NOW message is displayed in the message center and the traction assist indicator operates correctly. If the SERVICE RSC NOW message is not displayed in the message center and the traction assist indicator is not illuminated, the system is operating correctly. If the SERVICE RSC NOW message is displayed and the traction assist indicator is illuminated, INSTALL a new IC . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
The message center warning chime is inoperative	IC	VERIFY that there are warning messages displayed and CONFIRM, as new warning messages appear, that the warning chime sounds. If messages do not exist, the system is operating correctly at this time. The message center warning chime only sounds when the message center detects new warning messages. If warning messages exist and the chime does not sound, INSTALL a new IC . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
