Removal and Installation
NOTE:
The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the correct Restraints Control Module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON.
NOTE:
The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
- Remove the front passenger seat. For additional information, refer to SEAT - FRONT .
- Remove the seat backrest. For additional information, refer to SEAT BACKREST - FRONT, WITH FOLD FLAT .
- Remove the outboard upper recliner cover.
- Pull at the front and release the clip.
- Pivot the top of the outboard upper recliner cover back and remove.
- Pull the fold flat release strap out through the opening.
- Separate the cables and wire harness from the outboard recliner.
- Separate the fold flat cable retainer and cover from the outboard recliner.
- Separate the side air bag module wire harness pin-type retainer from the outboard recliner.
- If equipped, separate the manual lumbar cable retainer from the outboard recliner.
- Remove the inboard upper recliner cover.
- Pull at the front and release the clip.
- Pivot the top of the inboard upper recliner cover back and remove.
- Separate the fold flat cable retainer and cover from the inboard recliner.
- Separate the backrest trim cover lower J-clips.
- Release the backrest trim cover clips and open the zippers.
- Position the backrest trim cover aside and remove the 4 recliner-to-backrest frame bolts (2 shown). Remove the recliner assembly.
- Remove the recliner assembly.
- To install, tighten to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft).
- Remove 2 screws from each and the inner recliner covers from the inboard and outboard recliners.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
