Removal and Installation

NOTE: The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the correct Restraints Control Module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON.
NOTE: The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
  1. Remove the front seat. For additional information, refer to SEAT - FRONT .
  2. NOTE: The seat track rear height adjust must be all the way up or the recliner cover post will not slide out of the seat track hole.
    NOTE: For retainer clarity, inside of recliner cover shown.
  3. For driver seat, remove the recliner cover.
    1. Remove the scrivet at the rear of the recliner cover.
    2. Remove the screw at the rear of the recliner cover.
    3. Slide the recliner cover post out of the seat track hole and remove the recliner cover.

  4. For passenger seat, remove the inboard lower recliner cover.
    1. Remove the screw at the back of the inboard lower recliner cover.
    2. Remove the screw at the side of the inboard lower recliner cover.
    3. Pull out at the rear of the inboard lower recliner cover to release the retainers and remove.

  5. NOTE: Passenger seat shown, driver similar.
  6. If equipped, remove the manual lumbar handle.
    1. Push the cushion trim cover and foam pad back and locate the manual lumbar handle clip under the cushion side shield.
    2. Remove the clip and slide the manual lumbar handle off the shaft.

  7. NOTE: Passenger seat shown, driver similar.
    NOTE: For retainer clarity, inside of cushion side shield shown.
  8. Separate the cushion side shield.
    1. Remove the screw at the back of the cushion side shield.
    2. Remove the screw at the side of the cushion side shield.
    3. Remove the screw at the front of the cushion side shield.
    4. Pull out on the cushion side shield to release the clips and separate.

  9. NOTE: Passenger seat shown, driver similar.

  10. Remove the pin-type retainer and release the cushion trim cover outboard J-clips.
  11. For passenger seat, remove the pin-type retainer from the inboard side of the cushion trim cover.
  12. Separate the cushion trim cover rear J-clip.

  13. For passenger seat, open the 2 retainers under the seat at the rear and separate the recliner cable.

  14. Separate the remaining cushion trim cover retainers attached to the cushion frame.
  15. NOTE: Three front hog rings shown.
  16. Remove 6 hog rings and the seat cushion trim cover.
    • If equipped with heat, when installing the front hog rings, make sure they are through the heater mat windows.

  17. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
