Seat - Front: Removal

WARNING: Never probe the electrical connectors on air bag, Safety Canopy® or side air curtain modules. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental deployment of these modules, which increases the risk of serious personal injury or death.
WARNING: Never probe the electrical connectors on safety belt buckle/retractor pretensioners or adaptive load limiting retractors. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental deployment of the safety belt pretensioners or adaptive load limiting retractors, which increases the risk of serious personal injury or death.
NOTE: The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the correct Restraints Control Module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON.
NOTE: The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
    WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.
  1. Turn the ignition OFF and wait at least one minute.
  2. Pull the seat front inboard and outboard covers forward and remove.
  3. For passenger seat, pull the back flap out to access the recliner handle clip.

  4. If equipped, remove the manual recliner handle.
    1. Locate the manual recliner handle clip under the cushion side shield.
    2. Remove the clip and slide the manual recliner handle off the shaft.

  5. For passenger seat, release the 3 clips, slide rearward and remove the cushion side shield cover.

  6. For driver seat, pull out and remove the cushion side shield cover.
  7. Position the seat.
    • Position the seat forward enough to access the seat rear mounting bolts.
    • Position the seat all the way down to access the safety belt anchor bolt.
  8. Separate the safety belt anchor from the seat.
    • For driver seat, remove the safety belt anchor bolt and separate the safety belt anchor from the seat.
    • For passenger seat, disconnect the Belt Tension Sensor (BTS) electrical connector, remove the safety belt anchor bolt and separate the safety belt anchor from the seat.
  9. Position the front seat all the way up.
    • Make sure the seat rear mounting bolts are still accessible.
  10. Depower the SRS  . For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEPOWERING AND REPOWERING in the General Procedures portion of Supplemental Restraint System .
  11. Remove the 2 seat front mounting bolts.
  12. Remove the 2 rear mounting bolts.
  13. Disconnect the seat electrical connector(s) and detach the wire harness pin-type retainer.
    • Release the lever lock and pivot the lever back.
  14. WARNING: Use care when handling the front passenger seat and track assembly. Dropping the assembly, placing excessive weight on or sitting on a front passenger seat that is not secured in the vehicle may result in damaged seat components. Failure to follow these instructions may result in incorrect operation of the occupant classification sensor (OCS) system and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
    NOTE: Use care when handling the driver seat and track assembly. Dropping the assembly or sitting on a seat not secured in the vehicle may result in damaged components.
  15. Remove the front seat.
