Removal And Installation

LH ignition coil-on-plugs 

  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING article.
  2. Remove the 2 bolts and the LH ignition coil-on-plug cover.
    • Inspect the gasket. Install a new gasket if necessary.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  3. Disconnect the 4 LH ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors.
  4. Remove the 4 LH ignition coil-on-plugs, using a twisting motion while pulling up on the ignition coil-on-plug.

    5. RH ignition coil-on-plugs 

  5. Detach the wire harness retainer from the stud bolt and position the harness aside.
  6. Remove the bolt, stud bolt and the RH ignition coil-on-plug cover.
    • Inspect the gasket. Install a new gasket if necessary.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  7. Disconnect the 4 RH ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors.
  8. Remove the 4 RH ignition coil-on-plugs, using a twisting motion while pulling up on the ignition coil-on-plug.

    9. All ignition coil-on-plugs 

    NOTE: Verify that the ignition coil-on-plug spring is correctly located inside the ignition coil-on-plug boot and that there is no damage to the tip of the boot.
  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Apply a light coat of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil-on-plug boots.
