Pinpoint Test F: The Individual Component Illumination Is Inoperative
NOTE:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
NOTE:
Failure to disconnect the battery when instructed will result in false resistance readings. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES
.
- F1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE SINGLE ILLUMINATION SOURCE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Inoperative Illumination Source.
- Place the headlamp switch to the PARKING LAMPS ON position.
- Rotate the instrument panel dimmer switch to the full illumination position.
- Measure the voltage between the inoperative illumination source, harness side and ground as follows:CONNECTOR PIN REFERENCE
Component Connector-Pin Circuit Floor shifter C2096-3 VLN04 (VT/GY) Headlamp switch C205-2 VLN04 (VT/GY) Message center switch C269-1 VLN04 (VT/GY) Traction assist/parking aid disable switch C2114-6 VLN04 (VT/GY) Ambient lighting switch C3350-3 VLN04 (VT/GY) - Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?
- Yes: TURN headlamps off. GO to F2 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- F2 CHECK THE GROUND CIRCUIT TO THE SINGLE ILLUMINATION SOURCE FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Negative Battery Cable.
- Measure the resistance between the inoperative illumination source, harness side and ground according to the following table:CONNECTOR PIN REFERENCE
Illumination Source Connector-Pin Circuit Floor shifter C2096-4 GD112 (BK/GN) Headlamp switch C205-1 GD112(BK/GN) Message center switch C269-4 GD112 (BK/GN) Traction assist/parking aid disable switch C2114-1 GD114 (BK/BU) Ambient lighting switch C3350-4 GD908 (BK) - Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes: INSTALL a new component in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No: REPAIR the ground circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
