Pinpoint Test Ar: The 4X4 Shift In Progress Warning Is Inoperative
- AR1 VERIFY THAT THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH 4WD
- Check to confirm that the vehicle is equipped with 4WD.
- Is the vehicle equipped with 4WD?
- YES : Go to AR2.
- NO : The message center does not provide the 4X4 SHIFT IN PROGRESS warning.
- AR2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) SELF-TESTS NOTE: The instrument cluster (IC) must be configured for parking aid for the parking aid on/off feature to be displayed in the message center. Parking aid configuration is not a customer preference item and must be configured as part of the programmable module installation (PMI). If the instrument cluster (IC) is not configured correctly, DTC B2477 sets and the programmable module installation procedure must be repeated to accurately configure the instrument cluster (IC) for parking aid.
- Retrieve the recorded DTCs from the instrument cluster (IC) continuous and on-demand self-tests.
- Is DTC B2477 retrieved?
- YES : REFER to MODULE CONFIGURATION article to carry out PMI for the instrument cluster (IC).
- NO : Go to AR3.
- AR3 CHECK THE 4WD SYSTEM
- Operate the vehicle in 4WD and verify that the vehicle shifts from 2WD to 4WD correctly.
- Does the 4WD system shift correctly from 2WD to 4WD?
- YES : Go to AR4.
- NO : REFER to FOUR WHEEL DRIVE (4WD) SYSTEMS article.
- AR4 CHECK FOR CORRECT 4X4 CONTROL MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect the 4X4 control module connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the 4X4 control module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES
: INSTALL a 4X4 control module. REFER to FOUR WHEEL DRIVE (4WD) SYSTEMS
article. TEST the system for normal operation.
If the 4X4 SHIFT IN PROGRESS warning message still does not operate, go to AR5.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
- AR5 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) OPERATION
- Disconnect all the instrument cluster (IC) connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the instrument cluster (IC) connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES : INSTALL a new instrument cluster (IC). REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
