Bumper Cover - Rear: Installation

If installing a new bumper cover with parking aid 

    CAUTION: The surfaces of the bumper cover scratch easily. Place the bumper cover on a clean, non-scratch work surface prior to installation of the parking aid sensor.
  1. Drill a 3.18 mm (0.12 in) pilot hole from the interior side of bumper cover.

    CAUTION: Be careful not to over-trim the holes or the parking aid sensor may not fit correctly.
    NOTE: The mounting position of the parking aid sensor on the bumper cover is critical to the sensor's operation.
    NOTE: Hold the drill perpendicular to the bumper cover surface while drilling.
    NOTE: Make sure the hole saw contacts the lower bumper cover surface first.
  3. Use a 28.58 mm (1.12 in) hole saw to open the hole from the exterior side of the bumper cover.

    NOTE: Do not exceed the scribe lines.
  5. The inboard holes on all vehicles except Sport require additional trimming to obtain an oval shape. Follow the scribe lines on the inside of bumper cover.
  6. NOTE: On Sport vehicles, carry out this step for the outboard and inboard holes. For all other vehicles, carry out this step for the outboard holes only.
  7. Notch the keyways from the interior side of the bumper cover.

  9. Remove any burrs surrounding the hole.

    NOTE: Make sure the outer bracket fits flush against the bumper cover. The contour of the bracket must match the contour of the bumper cover. File the bottom of the hole as necessary.
    NOTE: Make sure the locating ribs on the brackets are engaged in the locating keyways of the bumper cover.
  11. Install the outer bracket.

    NOTE: Do not rotate the parking aid sensors or brackets.
    NOTE: Make sure the locating lug on the parking aid sensor aligns with the notch on the bracket.
  13. Install the rear parking aid sensors.

  15. Install the parking aid wiring harness.
    • Connect the electrical connectors.

    If installing a new or original bumper cover 

  17. If equipped, connect the parking aid wiring harness electrical connector.
  18. Install the rear bumper cover.
  19. Install the 5 rear bumper screws.
  20. Install the 3 rear bumper pushpins.
  21. Install the 4 rear bumper screws.
