Pinpoint Test D: All Power Vent Windows Are Inoperative - Power Vent Windows

  1. D1 CHECK CIRCUIT 882 (BN/YE) FOR GROUND 
    • Disconnect: RH Quarter Window Motor C4090
    • Fig 1: Checking Circuit For Ground

    • Measure the resistance between RH quarter window motor C4090-2, circuit 882 (BN/YE), harness side and ground.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D4.
    2. NO  : Go to  D2.
  2. D2 CHECK CIRCUIT 882 (BN/YE) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: Quarter Window Switch C2981

    • Measure the resistance between RH quarter window motor C4090-2, circuit 882 (BN/YE), harness side and quarter window switch C2981-6, circuit 882 (BN/YE), harness side.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D3.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. D3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1205 (BK) FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure the resistance between RH quarter window switch C2981-8, circuit 1205 (BK), harness side and the ground.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new quarter window switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. D4 CHECK CIRCUIT 881 (BN) FOR GROUND

    • Measure the resistance between RH quarter window motor C4090-1, circuit 881 (BN), harness side and ground.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D6.
    2. NO  : Go to  D5.
  5. D5 CHECK CIRCUIT 881 (BN) FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure the resistance between RH quarter window motor C4090-1, circuit 881 (BN), harness side and quarter window switch C2981-7, circuit 881 (BN), harness side.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new quarter window switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. D6 CHECK CIRCUIT 194 (PK) FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Disconnect: Quarter Window Switch C2981
    • Key in ON position.

    • Measure the voltage between quarter window switch C2981-5, circuit 194 (PK), harness side and ground.
    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D7.
    2. NO  : VERIFY the smart junction box (SJB) fuse 5 (20A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  7. D7 CHECK CIRCUIT 882 (BN/YE) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Measure the resistance between RH quarter window motor C4090-2, circuit 882 (BN/YE), harness side and ground.
    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D8.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  8. D8 CHECK CIRCUITS 881 (BN) AND 882 (BN/YE) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Measure the resistance between RH quarter window motor C4090-1, circuit 881 (BN), harness side and ground or LH quarter window motor C4048-1, circuit 882 (BN/YE), harness side and ground.
    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new quarter window switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
