Engine Mounts: Removal

    All vehicles 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  3. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING .
  4. Remove the throttle body spacer. For additional information, refer to FUEL CHARGING AND CONTROLS - 6.8L (3V) .
  5. Remove the generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR AND REGULATOR .
  6. Remove the cooling fan shroud. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  7. If removing the RH engine support insulator, remove the starter. For additional information, refer to STARTING SYSTEM - GASOLINE ENGINES .
  8. Install the special tools.

  9. Remove the 4 exhaust manifold-to-catalytic converter nuts.

    10. CAUTION: Only use hand tools when removing the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts or damage to the transmission mount can occur.

  10. Loosen the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts.
    11. CAUTION: Only use hand tools when removing the engine mount nut or damage to the engine mount can occur.
    NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

  11. Remove the 4 engine mount nuts.
  12. Using the special tools, raise the engine.

    13. RH engine mount 

  13. Remove the 4 bolts and the engine mount.

    14. LH engine mount
