Removal and Installation

    All vehicles 

  1. Remove the 4 screws, release the fastener and position the instrument panel lower panel aside.
    • To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  2. Disconnect the hood release cable and the data link connector (DLC) from the instrument panel lower panel and remove the lower panel.
    • Loosen the hood release cable nut.
      • To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors and twist to remove the following switches:
    1. Speed control deactivation switch (if equipped)
    2. Stop lamp switch
    3. Clutch position switch (if equipped)

  4. Vehicles with manual transaxle 

  5. Remove the clutch master cylinder from the pedal bracket.
    • Remove the clip.
    • Remove the bolts.
      • To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  6. Remove the clutch master cylinder actuating rod from the clutch pedal.

  7. All vehicles 

  8. Remove the 4 brake booster nuts.
    • To install, tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
  9. CAUTION: Install a new brake booster actuating rod pin.
  10. Remove the brake booster actuating rod from the brake pedal.
    1. Apply the brake pedal.
    2. Disengage the tab.
    3. Remove and discard the brake booster actuating rod pin.

  11. Vehicles with automatic transaxle 

  12. Remove the brake pedal retractor arm bolt.
    • Remove the air duct, if necessary.
    • To install, tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).
  13. All vehicles 

  14. Remove the brake pedal bracket.
  15. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
