Removal And Installation: Spring: Removal

CAUTION: Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they affect performance of vital parts and systems and their failure can result in major service expense. A new part with the same part number must be installed if installation becomes necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of these parts.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  2. Remove the stabilizer bar nut and bushings, stabilizer bar links and spacers on both sides of the stabilizer bar.
  3. Using a suitable jack, raise the rear lower arm 32 mm (1.25 inches).

  4. WARNING: The spring is under extreme tension; care must be taken at all times. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
  5. Remove the rearward lower arm outboard bolt.
  6. Lower the rear lower arm and remove the jack.

  7. Remove the spring.
    1. Position the stabilizer bar aside.
    2. Lower the rear lower control arm and remove the spring.
      • Inspect the spring upper and lower seats and, if necessary, install new.
