Removal and Installation
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
- Loosen the tie-rod jam nut.
- To install, tighten to 80 Nm (55 lb-ft).
- Remove and discard the outer tie rod-to-wheel knuckle nut.
- To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft)
- Using the special tool, disconnect the outer tie rod end from the wheel knuckle.
- Remove the tie rod.
- To install reverse removal procedure.
- Check and, if necessary, align the front end. For additional information, refer to SUSPENSION SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
CAUTION:
Use the hex-holding feature to prevent turning of the stud while removing the nut.
NOTE:
Record the number of turns required to remove the outer tie-rod.
WARNING:
Install a new tie rod-to-wheel knuckle nut. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
