Pinpoint Test T: The Electric Power Charge/Assist Gauge Is Inoperative (Hybrid)

  1. T1 CARRY OUT THE ELECTRIC POWER CHARGE/ASSIST GAUGE SWEEP TEST 
    • Carry out the instrument cluster self-diagnostic test for the gauge sweep.
    • Observe the electric power charge/assist gauge.
    • Does the gauge sweep from the lowest point to the highest point and then set to the mid-point of the scale? 
    1. YES  : REFER to HIGH VOLTAGE TRACTION BATTERY article to continue diagnosis of the TBCM. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : Go to  T2.
  2. T2 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION 
    • Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect the instrument cluster connector and make sure it seats correctly.
    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to Instrument Cluster . TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
