Pinpoint Test E: DTC C1446: Testing

  1. E1 MONITOR THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH (PCM) PID 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Powertrain Module PID
    • Press and release the brake pedal while monitoring the PCM brake pedal switch (BOO) PID.
    • Does the PID agree with the brake pedal position? 
    1. YES  : Go to  E2.
    2. NO  : REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING article to continue diagnosis of the stoplamps.
  2. E2 MONITOR THE ANTI-LOCK (ABS) MODULE (BOO) PID 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: ABS Module PID
    • Press and release the brake pedal while monitoring the ABS brake pedal switch (BOO) PID.
    • Does the PID agree with the brake pedal position? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a ABS module. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module  in this article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    2. NO  : Go to  E3.
  3. E3 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION 
    • Disconnect the ABS connector.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion.
      • pushed-out pins.
      • spread terminals.
    • Connect the ABS connector and make sure that it is seated correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module  in this article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
