Removal And Installation

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
NOTE: Prior to the removal of the vehicle security module, it is necessary to upload the module configuration information to the scan tool. This module configuration information must be downloaded into the new vehicle security module after installation.
  1. Upload the module configuration to the scan tool. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION article.
  2. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
  3. Remove the lower center dash trim panel. For additional information, refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE article.
  4. Disconnect the vehicle security module electrical connectors.
  5. Remove the 2 vehicle security module nuts.
    • To install, tighten to 4 Nm (35 lb-in).
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Download the module configuration information from the scan tool into the new vehicle security module. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION article.
