Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern.
  2. Visually inspect the following for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.
    VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

    Mechanical Electrical
    • Binding latch(es)
    • Central junction box (CJB) fuse(s):
      • 19 (10A)
      • 102 (30A)
    • Circuitry
    • Remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter
    • Keyless entry keypad
    • Vehicle security module
  3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
  4. NOTE: Make sure to use the latest scan tool software release.
  5. If the cause is not visually evident, connect the scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  6. NOTE: The vehicle communication module (VCM) LED prove-out confirms power and ground from the DLC are provided to the VCM.
  7. If the scan tool does not communicate with the VCM:
    • Check the VCM connection to the vehicle.
    • Check the scan tool connection to the VCM.
  8. If the scan tool does not communicate with the vehicle:
    • Verify the ignition key is in the ON position.
    • Verify the scan tool operation with a known good vehicle.
  9. Carry out the network test:
    • If the network test passes, retrieve and record the continuous memory DTCs.
  10. Clear the continuous DTCs and carry out the self-test diagnostics for the vehicle security module.
  11. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the Vehicle Security Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index. For all other DTCs, refer to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article.
  12. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, go to Symptom Chart .

    DTC Description Action
    B1300 Power Door Lock Circuit Failure Go to Pinpoint Test E .
    B1311 Power Door Unlock Circuit Open Go to Pinpoint Test E .
    B1342 ECU is Faulted CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the vehicle security module self-test. If DTC B1342 is retrieved again, INSTALL a new vehicle security module. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    B2276 Less Than 2 Transmitters Programmed Go to Pinpoint Test K .
    B2425 Remote Keyless Entry Out of Synchronization Go to Pinpoint Test K .
    B2477 Module Configuration Fault REFER to MODULE CONFIGURATION article.
    B2675 Keypad_B Switch Circuit Failure Go to Pinpoint Test F .
    B2676 Keypad_C Switch Circuit Failure Go to Pinpoint Test F .
    B2695 Keypad_A Switch Circuit Failure Go to Pinpoint Test F .
