Removal And Installation

CAUTION: While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or premature failure of the power steering components can result.
NOTE: New Teflon® seals must be installed any time the power steering line fittings are disconnected.
  1. Remove the power steering pump pulley. For additional information, refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley  in this article.
  2. Release the clamp and disconnect the supply hose.
  3. Remove the pressure line bracket bolt.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  4. Disconnect the pressure line-to-pump fitting.
    • Discard the Teflon® seal.
    • To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
  5. Remove the 2 bolts and the power steering pump.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  6. CAUTION: Make sure that the power steering pump bolts are installed in their original position.
    NOTE: Thoroughly clean all debris from the pressure line-to-pump threads before installing the fitting.
    NOTE: To prevent fluid leakage, be sure to position the fitting into the pump before positioning the pressure line bracket and tightening the lower power steering pump bolt.

  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Using the special tool, install a new Teflon® seal on the pressure line fitting.
