Timing Drive Components: Installation

- Install the timing chain tensioner and the bolts.
- Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
- If necessary, retract the tensioner pad retracting mechanism and insert a retaining pin.
- Rotate the crankshaft so the No. 1 piston is at top dead center (TDC) and the key is at the 12 o'clock position.
- Turn the camshaft sprocket so that the timing mark is at the 12 o'clock position and is lined up with the timing mark on the balance shaft at the 6 o'clock position.
- Install the timing chain, the camshaft sprocket and the crankshaft sprocket.
- Make sure that the timing marks and the keyways are aligned.
- Remove the retaining pin.
- Install the camshaft synchronizer drive gear and the bolt.
- Tighten to 45 Nm (33 lb-ft).
