Pinpoint Test C: Adjustable Brake Pedal Does Not Move

- C1 CHECK THE MOTOR SOUND
- Allow 2 minutes for the thermal overload to reset.
- Operate the adjustable pedal control switch.
- Can the adjustable pedal motor be heard to operate?
- Yes : GO to C2.
- No : GO to C5.
- C2 CHECK THE BRAKE PEDAL CABLE INSTALLATION
- Check the brake pedal cable for correct installation.
- Is the brake pedal cable properly installed?
- Yes : GO to C3.
- No : CORRECT the brake pedal cable installation. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C3 CHECK THE ADJUSTABLE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SYSTEM
- Disconnect the brake pedal-to-accelerator pedal cable.
- Operate the adjustable pedal control switch.
- Does the adjustable accelerator pedal operate now?
- Yes : INSTALL a new adjustable brake pedal assembly. REFER to BRAKE PEDAL AND BRACKET . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to C4.
- C4 INSPECT FOR FOREIGN MATERIAL
- Inspect the adjustable accelerator pedal assembly for foreign material causing a binding condition.
- Was any foreign material found?
- Yes : REMOVE the foreign material. RETEST for normal operation.
- No : GO to C5.
- C5 CHECK THE CABLE
- Inspect the end of the brake pedal motor cable for wear or damage.
- Is the cable end OK?
- Yes : GO to C6.
- No : INSTALL a new accelerator pedal cable. REFER to ACCELERATION CONTROL . TEST the system for normal operation.
- C6 ISOLATE THE CONDITION
- Determine the position of the adjustable pedal.
- Is the pedal stopped in a mid-range position?
- C7 CHECK POWER FEED TO THE ADJUSTABLE PEDAL SWITCH
- Disconnect: Adjustable Pedal Switch C2089.
- Key in ACCESSORY position.
- Measure the voltage between the adjustable pedal switch C2089 pin 2, circuit 1567 (RD/LB), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to C8.
- No : REPAIR the open in circuit 1567 (RD/LB). TEST the system for normal operation.
- C8 ISOLATE THE SWITCH - CONTINUITY TO POWER FEED
- Press the switch to the forward and rearward position.
- Measure the resistance between the adjustable pedal switch terminal 1, 2 and 7 component side.
- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to C9.
- No : INSTALL a new adjustable pedal switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C9 CHECK THE GROUND CIRCUIT
- Measure the resistance between the adjustable pedal switch C2089 pin 3, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground; and between the adjustable pedal switch C2089 pin 6, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms at both terminals?
- Yes : GO to C10.
- No : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. TEST the system for normal operation
- C10 CHECK THE PEDAL FORWARD POWER CIRCUIT
- Disconnect: Adjustable Pedal Motor C2003.
- Measure the resistance between the adjustable pedal switch C2089 pin 1, circuit 1490 (LB/OG), harness side and the adjustable pedal motor C2003 pin 1, circuit 1489 (LB/BK), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to C11.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C11 CHECK THE MOTOR REARWARD FEED CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Measure the voltage between the adjustable pedal switch C2089 pin 7, circuit 1490 (LB/OG), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to C6.
- C12 ISOLATE THE SWITCH - SHORT TO POWER FEED
- Disconnect: Adjustable Pedal Switch C2089.
- Measure the resistance between the adjustable pedal switch terminals 1 and 2 component side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new adjustable pedal switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to C13.
- C13 CHECK THE MOTOR FORWARD FEED CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Measure the voltage between the adjustable pedal switch C2089 pin 1, circuit 1489 (LB/BK), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to C6.
- C14 ISOLATE THE SWITCH - SHORT TO POWER SOURCE
- Disconnect: Adjustable Pedal Switch C2089.
- Measure the resistance between the adjustable pedal switch terminals 1 and 7 component side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new adjustable pedal switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to C15.
- C15 CHECK THE PEDAL REARWARD POWER CIRCUIT
- Measure the resistance between C2089 pin 7, circuit 1489 (LB/BK), harness side and the adjustable pedal motor C2003 pin 2, circuit 1489 (LB/BK), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new adjustable pedal motor.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
