Removal and Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Montego, 2006 Ford Freestyle, and 2006 Ford Five Hundred. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. With the 60 percent seat in the E-Z entry position, release 3 sets of cushion trim cover J-clips from under the seat.
  2. Pull the cushion trim cover outboard retainer out from between the riser and the cushion frame.

  3. NOTE: To pivot the backrest, the inboard seat latching foot must be in the LATCHED position.
  4. With the 60 percent seat positioned down, lift the cushion foam pad and cushion trim cover up. Remove the safety belt anchor and buckle bolt from the inboard recliner.
    • To install, tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb-ft).
  5. Release the 2 backrest trim cover lower J-clips.
  6. Release the 4 backrest trim cover inside J-clips from the hard back panel.
  7. Remove the LH and RH head restraints.
  8. Squeeze the opening together and remove the outer safety belt trim guide.
  9. NOTE: Use care when separating the seat back trim cover from the hook and loop strip, or the hook and loop strip can be torn from the seat back foam.
  10. Release the hook and loop strips, invert the backrest trim cover and remove the 3 rows of hog rings.
  11. Release the hook and loop strips and invert the backrest trim cover to the top of the backrest.
  12. NOTE: The head restraint guides are not interchangeable.
  13. Squeeze the tabs in and remove the 4 head restraint guides.
  14. Feed the safety belt through and remove the backrest trim cover.
  15. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
