Pinpoint Test B: The Low Beams Are Inoperative
- B1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE CJB
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: CJB C270g.
- Place the headlamp switch in the headlamps ON position.
- Measure the voltage the between the CJB C270g-4, circuit 13 (RD/BK), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes : INSTALL a new CJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
No : If equipped with DRL, GO to B2.
If not equipped with DRL, GO to B5.
- B2 CHECK THE DRL RELAY 3
- Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
- Disconnect: DRL Relay 3 C1000.
- Carry out the DRL relay 3 component test. Refer to EXTERIOR LIGHTS for component testing.
- Is the DRL relay 3 OK?
Yes : GO to B3.
No : INSTALL a new DRL relay 3. TEST the system for normal operation.
- B3 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE DRL RELAY 3
- Place the headlamp switch in the headlamps ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the DRL relay 3 C1000-87a, circuit 1033 (RD/YE), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes : REPAIR circuit 13 (RD/BK) between the DRL relay 3 and the CJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
No : PLACE the headlamp switch in the OFF position. GO to B4.
- B4 CHECK CIRCUITS 13 (RD/BK) AND 1033 (RD/YE) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202a.
- Measure the resistance between the DRL relay 3 C1000-87a, circuit 1033 (RD/YE), harness side and the multifunction switch C202a-9, circuit 13 (RD/BK), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES . TEST the system for normal operation.
No : REPAIR circuit 13 (RD/BK) or circuit 1033 (RD/YE) as necessary. TEST the system for normal operation.
- B5 CHECK CIRCUIT 13 (RD/BK) FOR AN OPEN
- Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
- Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202a.
- Measure the resistance between the CJB C270g-4, circuit 13 (RD/BK), harness side and the multifunction switch C202a-9, circuit 13 (RD/BK), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES . TEST the system for normal operation.
No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
