Pinpoint Test A: Both Headlamps Are Inoperative

- A1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE HEADLAMP SWITCH
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Headlamp Switch C205a.
- Measure the voltage between the headlamp switch C205a-8, circuit 196 (DB/OG), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes : GO to A3.
No : VERIFY the CJB fuse 7 (30A) is OK. If OK, GO to A2.
- A2 CHECK CIRCUIT 196 (DB/OG) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: CJB C270b.
- Measure the resistance between the headlamp switch C205a-8, circuit 196 (DB/OG), harness side and the CJB C270b-12, circuit 196 (DB/OG), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes : INSTALL a new CJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- A3 CHECK CIRCUIT 15 (RD/YE) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202a.
- Measure the resistance between the headlamp switch 0205a-9 circuit 15 (RD/YE), harness side and the multifunction switch C202a-8, circuit 15 (RD/YE), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes : GO to A4.
No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- A4 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH
- Connect: Headlamp Switch C205a.
- Place the headlamp switch in the headlamps ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the multifunction switch C202a-8, circuit 15 (RD/YE), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES . TEST the system for normal operation.
No : INSTALL a new headlamp switch. REFER to HEADLAMP SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
