Transaxle Cooling: Notes

CAUTION:
Whenever the transaxle has been disassembled to install new parts a new transmission fluid cooler should be installed and the fluid cooler tubes should be flushed.
NOTE:
Some vehicles are equipped with a cold weather cooler bypass valve (CBV). This valve cannot be flushed. Install a new CBV as part of an overhaul or installation of a remanufactured transaxle.
NOTE:
Cleaning and backflushing the transmission fluid cooling system
will keep contamination from reentering the transaxle and causing a repeat repair.
When internal wear or damage has occurred in the transaxle, metal particles or clutch plate material may have been carried into the torque converter and transmission fluid cooler. These contaminants are a major cause of recurring transaxle troubles and must be removed from the system before the transaxle is put back in use.
