Removal and Installation

- Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT .
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING - 3.0L (4V) .
- Remove the starter solenoid terminal cover.
- Remove the starter motor positive cable nut.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
- Remove the starter solenoid wire nut.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
- Position the starter motor terminals aside.
- Remove the battery ground cable-to-transaxle bolt.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
- Position the battery ground cable aside.
- Disconnect the retainers fastening the battery cables to the battery tray.
- Open the BJB cover and remove the BJB terminal nut.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
- Position the BJB terminal aside.
- Disconnect the BJB electrical connector.
- Remove the body ground terminal bolt from the left fenderwell.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
- Release the battery cable locators and remove the battery cables from the vehicle.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
