Symptom Chart

NOTE: The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is not affected by wheel and tire rotation.

Failure of a TPMS component may not cause the message center to display a fault message or a DTC to be stored. The Symptom Chart is a starting point to begin diagnosis of these concerns.

SYMPTOM CHART

TPMS indicator ON continuously and message center (if equipped) displays LOW TIRE PRESSURE	Spare tire currently in use	INSTALL the repaired road wheel/tire in place of the spare tire.
	Air pressure not set to specifications listed on the vehicle certification label	GO to PINPOINT TEST A .
SJB will not enter sensor training mode when using the TPMS sensor training procedure	Brake on/off (BOO) switch Ignition switch Vehicle communication bus Smart junction box (SJB)	GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
TPMS indicator FLASHES for 70 seconds and then remains ON solid when the ignition key is turned to the ON position and DTC B2872 is present	TPMS sensor(s) TPMS sensor(s) not trained to the SJB SJB	NOTE: If the vehicle has been stationary for more than 30 minutes, the sensors will go into a "sleep mode" to conserve battery power. It will be necessary to wake them up so they will transmit the latest tire pressure information to the smart junction box (SJB). POSITION the tire pressure monitor activation tool against the LH tire sidewall, 180 degrees from the tire valve stem. PRESS the test button on the activation tool. The activation tool will provide feedback in the form of a flashing green light and a "beep" sound for each successful response from a tire pressure sensor. REPEAT this procedure for the remaining 3 sensors. GO to PINPOINT TEST C .
TPMS indicator FLASHES for 70 seconds and then remains ON solid when the ignition key is turned to the ON position, the message center (if equipped) displays TIRE MONITOR FAULT and DTC B1342 is present	SJB	INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
TPMS indicator FLASHES for 70 seconds and then remains ON solid when the ignition key is turned to the ON position, the message center (if equipped) displays TIRE MONITOR FAULT and there are no DTCs present in the SJB	Vehicle communication bus SJB Vehicle communication issue between SJB and instrument cluster	REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK to diagnose the communication area network (CAN) bus.
