Principles Of Operation: Autolock

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis and 2006 Ford Crown Victoria. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The autolock feature locks all the doors when all the doors are closed, the key is in the ON position, the vehicle is shifted into any gear, and then the vehicle speed exceeds 5 km/h (3 mph). This feature relocks the doors (if any doors were open) after all the doors are closed and vehicle speed has gone below and then exceeds 5 km/h (3 mph). Door ajar switches are wired directly to the DDM. The autolock feature can be enabled/disabled through module configuration, the ignition switch. The autolock feature also uses inputs from the key position, the transmission range (TR) sensor, and vehicle speed through the standard corporate protocol (SCP) network.
