Pinpoint Test J: The STOPLAMPS Are On Continuously

- J1 CHECK THE STOPLAMP SWITCH
- Disconnect: Stoplamp Switch C278.
- Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate?
Yes : GO to J2.
No : INSTALL a new stoplamp switch. REFER to STOPLAMP SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
- J2 CHECK CIRCUIT 569 (DG) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: CJB Fuse 28 (15A).
- Does the high mounted stoplamp continue to illuminate?
Yes : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
No : GO to J3.
- J3 CHECK CIRCUIT 10 (LG/RD) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: CJB Fuse 30 (15A).
- Do the rear stoplamps continue to illuminate?
Yes : GO to J4.
No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- J4 CHECK CIRCUITS 9 (LG/OG) AND 5 (OG/LB) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202c and C202a.
- Do the rear stoplamps continue to illuminate?
Yes : If the LH rear stoplamp continues to illuminate, REPAIR circuit 9 (LG/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.
If the RH rear stoplamp continues to illuminate, REPAIR circuit 5 (OG/LB). TEST the system for normal operation.
No : GO to J5.
- J5 CHECK CIRCUIT 511 (LG) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Measure the voltage between the multifunction switch C202a-4, circuit 511 (LG), harness side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?
Yes : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
No : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES . TEST the system for normal operation.
