Principles of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis and 2006 Ford Crown Victoria. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The fog lamp system consists of the following:

When the fog lamp switch is engaged, the high beams are not illuminated, and the lighting control module (LCM) has commanded the exterior lamps on if the headlamp switch is in the AUTO position, then the fog lamp relay is energized and power is supplied to the fog lamps. When the high beams are illuminated the flash-to-pass relay is energized, which opens the controlled power circuit to the fog lamp relay.
