D-Ring Installation Kit 100-F012 (134-00018) or equivalent
  1. Remove the shoulder safety belt height adjuster. For additional information, refer to SAFETY BELT SHOULDER HEIGHT ADJUSTER .

  2. Use the 1/2-in drill provided in the D-Ring Installation Kit to drill out the damaged threads in the upper pillar structure.

  3. NOTE: After each rotation, back off the tap slightly to remove the new cuttings and be sure to blow out any chips before proceeding.
  4. Apply a suitable lubricant to the M14 x 1.5 tap provided in the D-Ring Installation Kit and tap new threads.
  5. Use a threaded insert (part of #N807170-S190) provided in the D-Ring Installation Kit and screw it into the retapped hole until it is slightly below the surface.

  6. Use a hammer to lightly tap the installation tool provided in the D-Ring Installation Kit several times to seat the insert keys.

  7. NOTE: If the shoulder safety belt shoulder height adjuster bolts are stripped, install a new height adjuster.

  8. Insert the shoulder safety belt height adjuster in the opening of the upper B-pillar structure, making sure the shoulder belt height adjuster knob on the shoulder safety belt height adjuster is positioned above the D-ring attachment nut. (The tab is located at the top and is to be inserted in the hole provided in the B-pillar structure.)
  9. Install the 2 shoulder safety belt height adjuster bolts.
    • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  10. NOTE: Make sure the D-ring rotates freely.
  11. Install the safety belt D-ring nut.
    • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  12. NOTE: Position the safety belt D-ring to its highest point before installing B-pillar trim.
  13. Install the B-pillar trim.
  14. Operate the front seat shoulder strap adjuster. Make sure it travels from top to bottom and locks correctly in each position.
  15. Check the active restraint system for correct operation. For additional information, refer to SAFETY BELT SYSTEM .
