Pinpoint Test A: The Ignition Switch Is Inoperative: Testing

  1. A1 CHECK CIRCUIT 1715 (RD) FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.
    • Measure the voltage between the ignition switch C250-4, circuit 1715 (RD), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to IGNITION SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : GO to A2.
  2. A2  CHECK CIRCUIT 1715 (RD) FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
    • Disconnect: BJB fuse 34 (30A).
    • Measure the resistance between the ignition switch C250-4, circuit 1715 (RD), harness side and ground, and between the ignition switch C250-4, circuit 1715 (RD), harness side and BJB fuse 34 (30A), circuit 1715 (RD), output side.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms between the ignition switch and ground, and less than 5 ohms between the ignition switch and the BJB? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new BJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
