Exhaust Manifold: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING article.
  2. Remove the exhaust flexible pipe. For additional information, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM -- FUSION, MILAN & MKZ article.
  3. Disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.
  4. Remove the 4 exhaust manifold heat shield bolts and the heat shield.
  5. If equipped, detach the block heater wire harness retainer from the exhaust manifold stud.
  6. Remove and discard the 7 exhaust manifold nuts.
  7. Remove the exhaust manifold and discard the exhaust manifold gasket.
  8. Remove and discard the 7 cylinder head studs.
  9. Clean and inspect the exhaust manifold. For additional information, refer to ENGINE SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION article.
