In-Vehicle Servicing: Camshaft: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
- Remove the camshaft roller followers. For additional information, refer to Camshaft Roller Follower .
- Remove the timing chain. For additional information, refer to Timing Drive Components .
- Remove the bolt and the camshaft sprocket and spacer.
- Remove the 13 camshaft bearing cap bolts.
- Remove the camshaft bearing cap.
- Remove the camshaft from the cylinder head.
NOTE:
When the timing chains are removed and the cylinder heads are installed, the crankshaft or camshafts cannot be rotated or piston and valve damage can occur.
