Pinpoint Test J: The STOPLAMPS Are On Continuously

- J1 CHECK THE STOPLAMP SWITCH
- Disconnect: Stoplamp Switch C278
- Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate?
- YES : Go to J2.
- NO : INSTALL a new stoplamp switch. REFER to Stoplamp Switch . TEST the system for normal operation.
- J2 CHECK CIRCUIT 511 (LG) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: Circuit Filter C3148
- Does the high mounted stoplamp continue to illuminate?
- YES : REPAIR circuit 511 (LG). TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : Go to J3.
- J3 CHECK CIRCUIT 10 (LG/RD) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Connect: Circuit Filter C3148
- Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202c
- Does the high mounted stoplamp continue to illuminate?
- YES : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : Go to J4.
- J4 CHECK CIRCUITS 9 (LG/OG) AND 5 (OG/LB) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202a
- Do the rear stoplamps continue to illuminate?
- YES
: If the LH rear stoplamp continues to illuminate, REPAIR circuit 9 (LG/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.
If the RH rear stoplamp continues to illuminate, REPAIR circuit 5 (OG/LB). TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
