Pinpoint Test J: The STOPLAMPS Are On Continuously

  1. J1 CHECK THE STOPLAMP SWITCH 
    • Disconnect: Stoplamp Switch C278
    • Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate? 
    1. YES  : Go to  J2.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new stoplamp switch. REFER to Stoplamp Switch . TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. J2 CHECK CIRCUIT 511 (LG) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Disconnect: Circuit Filter C3148
    • Does the high mounted stoplamp continue to illuminate? 
    1. YES  : REPAIR circuit 511 (LG). TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : Go to  J3.
  3. J3 CHECK CIRCUIT 10 (LG/RD) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Connect: Circuit Filter C3148
    • Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202c
    • Does the high mounted stoplamp continue to illuminate? 
    1. YES  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : Go to  J4.
  4. J4 CHECK CIRCUITS 9 (LG/OG) AND 5 (OG/LB) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202a
    • Do the rear stoplamps continue to illuminate? 
    1. YES  : If the LH rear stoplamp continues to illuminate, REPAIR circuit 9 (LG/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.

      If the RH rear stoplamp continues to illuminate, REPAIR circuit 5 (OG/LB). TEST the system for normal operation.

    2. NO  : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
