Removal and Installation

- Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
- Disconnect the degas bottle-to-thermostat housing hose and position aside.
- Disconnect the throttle body-to-thermostat housing hose and position aside.
- Disconnect the upper radiator-to-thermostat housing hose and position aside.
- Disconnect the bypass tube-to-thermostat housing hose and position aside.
- Disconnect the heater hose from the thermostat housing and position aside.
- Disconnect the lower radiator-to-thermostat housing hose and position aside.
- Remove the 2 bolts and the thermostat housing.
- Discard the O-ring seal.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install a new O-ring on the thermostat housing and lubricate with clean engine coolant.
- Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
