Removal and Installation

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING -- ESCAPE, ESCAPE HYBRID, MARINER & MARINER HYBRID .
- Drain the engine coolant. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
- Remove the LH lower engine splash shield.
- Release the clamp and disconnect the auxiliary coolant pump-to-thermostat hose.
- Release the clamp and disconnect the heater outlet hose.
- Disconnect the auxiliary coolant flow pump electrical connector.
- Remove the 2 auxiliary coolant flow pump bolts.
- To install, tighten to 4 Nm (35 lb-in).
- Remove the auxiliary coolant flow pump and rubber bracket assembly.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Fill the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
NOTE:
Lubricate the coolant hoses with plain water only if needed. Do not use soap or other detergents.
