Removal and Installation

Front Wheel Drive (FWD) vehicles 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING -- ESCAPE, ESCAPE HYBRID, MARINER & MARINER HYBRID .
  2. Remove the rear wheel hub nut.
    • To install, tighten to 290 Nm (214 lb-ft).
  3. Remove the sensor ring from the wheel hub.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

    All-Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicles 

  5. The rear wheel speed sensor ring is integral to the rear axle halfshaft and cannot be repaired separately. For additional information, refer to REAR DRIVE HALFSHAFTS .
