Normal Operation

The booster travel sensor provides the ABS module with an analog signal indicating the position of the diaphragm inside the brake booster. The ABS module supplies a 5-volt reference voltage to the sensor along circuit CCB33 (GY/OG) and ground along circuit RCB33 (VT/GY). The ABS module receives a varying voltage proportional to the position of the diaphragm inside the brake booster along circuit VCB34 (WH/BU). The ABS module monitors the brake booster travel sensor circuits for circuit faults. The ABS module will also compare the brake booster travel sensor signal with other brake system inputs to verify that the brake booster travel sensor signal is accurate. If a brake booster travel sensor circuit or signal fault is detected, the red brake warning indicator will be illuminated.

DTC DESCRIPTION TABLE

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
  • C0048:11 - Brake Booster Travel Sensor: Circuit Short To Ground
If circuit VCB34 (WH/BU) is open or shorted to ground or if the ABS module is faulted internally, this DTC will set. This DTC will also set if circuit CCB33 (GY/OG) is open.
  • C0048:12 - Brake Booster Travel Sensor: Circuit Short to Battery
If circuit VCB34 (WH/BU) is shorted to voltage, if circuit RCB33 (VT/GY) is open, or if the ABS module is faulted internally, this DTC will set.
  • C0048:64 - Brake Booster Travel Sensor: Signal Plausibility Failure
This DTC can set if the booster travel sensor is improperly mounted, if the booster travel sensor is faulted internally or if the ABS module is faulted internally. This DTC can also set as a result of other brake booster travel sensor faults. All other brake booster travel sensor DTCs should be diagnosed prior to diagnosing DTC C0048:64.
  • C1108:11 - Pedal Sensor(s) (Booster Travel Sensor) Supply Voltage: Circuit Short to Ground
This DTC is set if the brake booster travel sensor supply circuit CCB33 (GY/OG) is shorted ground, if the booster travel sensor is shorted internally or if the ABS module is faulted internally.
  • C1108:12 - Pedal Sensor(s) (Booster Travel Sensor) Supply Voltage: Circuit Short to Battery
This DTC is set if the brake booster travel sensor supply circuit CCB33 (GY/OG) is shorted voltage, if the booster travel sensor is shorted internally or if the ABS module is faulted internally.
  • C1108:1C - Pedal Sensor(s) (Booster Travel Sensor) Supply Voltage: Circuit Voltage Out of Range
This DTC can set as a result of other brake booster travel sensor circuit faults or if the ABS module is faulted internally. All other booster travel sensor DTCs should be diagnosed prior to diagnosing DTC C1108:1C.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
