Wheel Hub: Removal

All vehicles 

  1. Remove the tire and wheel. For additional information, refer to WHEELS AND TIRES article.
  2. NOTE: Do not allow the caliper and anchor plate assembly to hang from the brake hose or damage to the hose can occur.
  3. Remove the 2 brake caliper anchor plate bolts and position the brake caliper and anchor plate assembly aside.
    • Support the caliper and anchor plate assembly using mechanic's wire.
  4. Single rear wheel vehicles 

  5. Index-mark the brake disc.

  7. Remove the brake disc.
  8. All vehicles 

  9. Remove the axle shaft. For additional information, refer to Axle Shaft .
  10. NOTE: Make sure that the drive tangs on the special tool engage the 4 slots of the hub nut.
  11. Using the special tool, remove the hub nut.

  13. Remove the rear hub.
  14. Dual rear wheel vehicles 

  15. Remove the rear hub and brake disc assembly.
