Removal And Installation

WARNING: When handling fuel, always observe fuel handling precautions and be prepared in the event of fuel spillage. Spilled fuel may be ignited by hot vehicle components or other ignition sources. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.

All fuel tanks 

  1. Remove the fuel tank. For additional information, refer to Fuel Tank - Aft-of-Axle  or Fuel Tank - Midship .
  2. Place the fuel tank on a suitable work surface.

    3. Aft-of-axle tank 

  3. Remove the fuel level sensor nuts.
    • To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  4. Remove the fuel level sensor and fuel level sensor seal. Discard the fuel level sensor seal.

    5. Midship fuel tank 

  5. Remove the fuel level sensor bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  6. Remove the fuel level sensor and fuel level sensor seal. Discard the fuel level sensor seal.

    7. All fuel tanks 

  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Install a new fuel level sensor seal.
