Pinpoint Test D: No Power In Start

  1. D1 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH 
    1. YES  : Go to  D2.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch . TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. D2 CHECK CIRCUITS 33 (WH/PK) AND 1499 (PK/LG) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: CJB Fuse 8 (15A)
    • Disconnect: CJB Fuse 33 (10A)

    • Measure the resistance between:
      • ignition switch C250-5, circuit 1499 (PK/LG), harness side and CJB fuse 8 (30A) cavity, circuit 1499 (PK/LG), input side.
      • ignition switch C250-3, circuit 33 (WH/PK), harness side and CJB fuse 33 (10A) cavity, circuit 33 (WH/PK), input side.
    • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? 
    1. YES  : REFER to STARTING SYSTEM - GASOLINE ENGINES article or STARTING SYSTEM - DIESEL ENGINE article to diagnose the starting system.
    2. NO  : VERIFY CJB fuse 8 (30A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit 1499 (PK/LG).

      VERIFY CJB fuse 33 (10A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit 33 (WH/PK).

      TEST the system for normal operation.
